What to know before planning a bespoke engagement ring

The bespoke jewellery process may seem daunting but with the right guidance from a good bespoke jeweller the whole journey should be a lot of fun. However there are a few things to consider/keep an eye out for before you have your consultation to help begin the process.

Metal type

Do you want the piece of jewellery to be in yellow or white gold or platinum? Some people only wear one colour so it’s important to take note of what they wear. If they don’t wear any jewellery then we can either make a decision based on her style or their skin tone. If they are the opposite and like wearing both then we can decide based on the design of the piece.

Gemstones, Diamonds or both?

Some people are strictly diamond lovers and want to be showered in them. Others may want to add a pop of colour into their jewellery. If you are wanting to make an engagement ring then it’s important to choose a hard-wearing stone. A diamond is perfect for this but there are plenty of coloured stones that are possible such as sapphire.

The Design                        

What sort of clothes do they wear? Are they often dressed in smart casual clothes or do they have a quirky sense of style? However, if the piece is an engagement ring I usually advise that we keep the design fairly timeless and classic, so that it stands the test of time and different fashion trends. If they are very out there with their style then we can always add a unique twist. A little add on of an engraving inside the ring is always a nice touch to consider too.
